Maternity photoshoot ideas

Much like my several baby showers, I was fortunate to have more than one maternity photoshoot. When we thought we were having a big wedding on our one year anniversary, we booked our photographer friend for the date. Since we decided not to move forward with it, he told us we could use the deposit for 2 shoots. I decided to make one of those shoots my maternity one and the other we saved for the Orlando baby shower.

After that agreement, a photographer I became friends with through my job at UCF reached out to me and asked if she could do a maternity shoot with my hubs and I… for free. Um, YES. Not only is she incredibly talented, she is also very easy to work with. I get kinda awkward when I’m in front of the camera, but she makes it feel natural. She asked me to pick the theme and location because she wanted this to be meaningful to us, however, I had no idea what to choose. Since this was around August and fall is my favorite season, I decided to have it at a pumpkin patch at the end of September.

Now, before you think it, I’ll say it… it was still VERY hot outside. But, I didn’t care. I was excited for these pictures! So, if you’re a lover of all things fall, feel free to steal this idea!

Our second maternity shoot was at my favorite place ever: the beach. I encourage you to be as stress free as you possibly can on the day of your shoot, but understand that things happen. This was a very difficult day for me and I even ended up in the hospital the next day with food poisoning. But, I was determined to look “glow-y” and whatever else they tell you when you’re pregnant.

I got my hair done and the weather was great, except the wind was in full effect. That made it a bit hard to keep my face the way I wanted it to, but I pushed through. In this case, we had to be more prepared with our poses, so I encourage you to use Pinterest for inspiration. It was, and always is, my best friend. So, if you love the beach (how could you not), feel free to draw inspiration from our photoshoot!

Like any other millennial woman (or… let’s be honest, just about anyone today), I was regularly spending several hours on Pinterest looking up ideas for maternity photoshoots. There are so many creative mamas out there who did some pretty cool photoshoots and I wanted all of the inspiration. So, although I went with the fall and beach themes, below are some of the ideas I came across in case it’s more your style. Happy pinning!

If you’re in the Orlando area, I recommend both of our photographers!
